Coach Guidelines: Safer Play under COVID-19

Returning to the Fields in 2020 means that coaches have to take on an added layer of social responsibility, which really means taking steps to ensure the health of players and fellow coaches prior to every practice and every day of tournament.  We've broken down the steps, suggest by the State of Oregon, and other governing bodies, which can help contribute to continuing to flatten the curve.
Step One:  Read/review the NAFA Back to the Fields Guidelines packet.
Step Two:  Read/Review the Coach Guidelines below.
Step Three:  Fill out the online acceptance and e-sign your agreement to the terms.
COACH - TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES:
  1. All Coaches/Players must answer these state mandated questions before every tournament:
    1. Do you have a fever?
    2. Have you had a cough, fever, or any other symptoms in the prior 14 days?
    3. Have you been around anyone who has COVID-19 in the prior 14 days?
COACH TOURNAMENT GENERAL HEALTH GUIDANCE:
  1. Check for new cough and fever for anyone entering the facility/area or interacting with players. Individuals with a fever greater than or equal to 100.4° F should not be allowed to enter. COVID-19 does not always present with temperature or new cough. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever and new cough, as well as, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fever; chills; muscle pain; sore throat; and new loss of taste or smell.
  2. Communicate advice and guidance to parents not to bring their player if they, or anyone in their household, have recently had an illness with fever or a new cough. They should remain home for at least 10 days after illness onset and until 72 hours after fever is gone, without use of fever reducing medicine, and COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, and diarrhea) are improving. Coaches or players who have a cough that is not a new onset cough (e.g. asthma, allergies, etc.), do not need to be excluded from play.
  3. Restrict from play any player or coaching staff known to have been exposed (e.g., by a household member) to COVID-19 within the preceding 14 days.
  4. If anyone who has entered the gate is diagnosed with COVID-19, report you must report this to NAFA immediately.
  5. Report to NAFA any cluster of illness among players or coaching staff.
CURRENT COACH REQUIREMENTS FOR TOURNAMENT PLAY:
  1. You must remind player/coaches to wash their hands frequently.
  2. You must prohibit the sharing of equipment.
  3. You must ensure every player has their own labeled water source.
